26 women stayed the course.
These women are all leaders in a global advertising company, all finding their way through what can feel like treacle.
These are women who decided that they were worth the time investment to work on themselves.
Believe me, they are women who are run ragged with constant demands on their time and expertise. It would have been easy for them to choose the demanding project over themselves. But they didn’t; they chose to embrace their brilliance.
What I’ve watched as I’ve worked with them over the last year, their willingness to apply the new tools and strategies they learned… scared.
It can be challenging to accept that self-leadership is the key to every other type of leadership.
We have been conditioned to believe that it’s leadership frameworks that will make all of the difference. But you can’t lead effectively if you are struggling to lead yourself.
That’s what we have worked on, and the growth has been incredible.
This group of women have felt the fear, the pushback, the self-talk that told them to skip the sessions and put the work into action.
This is why they will continue to succeed. This is why they will avoid burn-out in the future. This is why they will grow their team members. This is why they will hold boundaries, ask the difficult questions and deliver on their vision and strategies.
Because they choose to do the work on themselves, first.
What you are seeing in the image is some of the Post-it notes they shared on how they were arriving and what they wanted to get out of the last session I ran with them.
Supporting your women in leadership is a game changer because when they learn to lead themselves and choose to step into their excellence – not their exhaustion, everyone benefits; the teams, the clients, the organisation and most importantly themselves.
Thank you to my client for choosing me to work with these incredible women and to @Lola Bejide, right-hand woman. If you and your organisation are ready to support and equip your women in leadership, then get in touch.
