Do you know that feeling?

That things are out of your grasp?

It typically happens sometime in the middle of your working career. You realise you ended up in a place where you’re unsure, doing something you don’t know if you should be. You want to do more, be more, get recognised more…

But…

All the things are kind of happening around you, and you feel like you have zero control over where it goes.

The idea of control isn’t arbitrary. It has everything to do with your confidence.

The more confidence you have, the more control you receive to create the future you want.

1. Stop Playing the Comparison Game

Yes, I know Nancy is showing off on Instagram. She looks great, right? Not a flaw in sight. And Candice seems to be doing well with her new promotion. Gail has a whole new life now that she has moved from one company to another. She’s even found time to work out and gain the body she always wanted.

*Sigh* they all look amazing, don’t they?

They are.

But, so are you.

Stop looking at their achievements against yourself. That’s not where your genius is. It doesn’t live in other people’s worth, no matter how amazing it might look from the outside. Your magnificence is within your own accomplishments and there are thousands to bank on. Next time you think about putting yourself in the comparison game, remind yourself that you’re not on those other people’s journeys. You’re on your own, and there’s plenty to be proud of in that.

2. Take Care of Yourself

It’s not easy to feel confident if you’re busy putting everyone else’s needs above your own. Yes, I know you took on the extra work tasks. Yes, I know you promised you’d go ahead and take care of the whole project because so-and-so can’t take care of his half. Yes, I know you feel the need to do Z, Y, and Z because if you don’t, the whole world around you may crumble. I also know that you think you need to be “helpful” to feel valued… Which means helping EVERYBODY!!

I’ve got news, lady. Your inner world may crumble if you don’t stop to care for it.

Slow down. Take the space and the time you need for you. That will lead to the clarity to figure out what your next steps should be, and how best to step into that version of yourself. This is super important because the universe has a way of taking you down if you don’t listen. That means sickness, an accident or something that you really didn’t want to experience.

So, let’s not let it get to that, take time to take care of you.

3. Be Kind to Yourself

Mistakes happen. They’ve happened before and they’ll happen again. That’s part of the human experience. But you know what? It’s not terrible to allow setbacks to happen. They can be a learning opportunity.

We seem to have forgotten that to err is human. It’s exactly how we learn.

Being kind to yourself when you face these instances will help you navigate through them in the future. You’ll teach yourself how to become more emotionally flexible. You’ll bounce back quicker.

And best of all, you’ll walk away feeling more confident about moving forward into the space you want to stand in because you’ll know that these experiences are all part of the journey.

4. Face Your Fears

When you think about your desires, I’m sure there’s a whole list of things that make you feel all anxious and jittery.

Maybe it’s asking for the promotion you’ve been eyeing. Or requesting a raise for the work you actually do. It could even be jumping ship from where you work now and getting a fresh start in a new industry, field or company.

Yes, I know that last one probably made you more nervous than you want to admit.

But the truth is, all these fears are standing in the way of your truest confident self. Your BUT’s are blocking your blessings.  Because each time you move past your fears, you move forward to your goals and living they way you truly want to live

5. Get Yourself the Right Squad

Take a moment to think about those you surround yourself with: your friends, your family, your coworkers. How do they make you feel on a daily basis? Uplifted because you take on so many amazing things? Or used because they’re expecting it of you?

You may have some amazing people in your corner, and if you do, I love that for you! We could all use more cheerleaders to help us feel like our desires are worth our efforts and are worth respect.

Surround yourself with a positive squad, and you can literally feel the imposter syndrome start to shake free.

The Benefits of Confidence

The moment you tap into your confidence, the rest of your world opens to possibilities. You start to see the cracks that need to be filled and you feel capable of filling them. Sometimes by yourself, and sometimes with the help of others.

The key to actualising the desires you’ve been sitting on isn’t magic. It’s confidence in your own abilities to make them happen.

They can.

They will.

You just have to take control.

And if you need the right squad to help you do that? The Compass Club is here to be that squad for you.
