She came to me because she’d been stalking me for a year, and she knew that I was the one, but she wasn’t used to betting on herself.
What she was used to was betting on everyone else.
They got the best of her.
Don’t get me wrong, she was and is outstanding as a leader.
So, outstanding that after a few years of being in role, making things happen, elevating the team and operating at the highest level, some insecure peer or senior would start to make it difficult.
She was the epitome of “pet to threat” where the once beloved impactful leader becomes the person they can’t wait to be rid of. Let’s be honest, they say they want progression, but can’t handle it when it shows up.
She’s a trailblazer, multi-talented and multi-faceted, and she’s trusted to get projects online. She’s the one that they give the impossible tasks to, as they know that she will make them possible. Her skillset is unquestionable, even she knows that, even if her confidence crumbles in the small hours of the night.
But there was more, the burden of being the only one –
The only one to go to university.
The only one with a corporate job.
The only one with a high income.
They only one with nice things.
The only one who chose to elevate herself.
Her success was received as an insult to those she’d left behind as she flew.
So, they clipped her wings with demands for financial support. Tethered her sense of self to the slights that made her feel bad for succeeding.
They left her out whilst still expecting the begging bowl to be regularly replenished. No thank yous were ever offered, just a tsunami of expectations.
They ridiculed her for buying those nice things whilst shaming her for “wasting money.” The same money they expected to flow to them.
She had dreams she wanted to fulfil, but the tethers held her bound…
Because she was the responsible one…
Responsible for everybody.
Whilst her wants and needs were placed on hold.
Then one day, she chose herself.

She knew she needed help.
That’s when she booked a call with me.
It was so much easier than she thought it would be. She knew that she’d get the help from me, but this was a step out of her comfort zone. But her choice led her to conviction and knowing that these were her steps to freeing her tethered soul.
Session one was full of fear.
- Fear of the unknown
- Fear of facing herself.
- Fear of different choices.
- Fear of holding boundaries.
- Fear of looking in the mirror.
As I helped her take a look in the mirror, the tethers became clear. As did the luggage she was dragging with her that wasn’t hers.
Clarity started showing up.
And yes, it was scary, but each question, each moment of reflection, each time she was held as she looked in the mirror, she cut a tether. Each time her wings unfurled some more. Each time she recognised that she was being held stuck by other people’s fears that she had adopted as her own.
This was not the life she had planned for herself, and so she let go of it.
Her no became stronger, and those finances she was bleeding to keep the peace stopped flowing in the opposite direction to her.
She put herself at the top of the list and found a joy she didn’t know was possible.
She went shopping, on instruction, and suddenly found herself worthy of the things she had been denying herself.
She started to care for herself in a different way, with trips to the spa and time with her closest people. She found a new life.
We planned her exit from her role so that she could concentrate on the business she’d built as her side hustle and live in the country of her dreams.
Power was claimed, permission was granted.
The road wasn’t smooth.
But that just allowed her to see through her new non-tinted glasses the power games that were played by others to her detriment. Yes, it hurt but it was also the trigger she needed to flap her wings.
The tethers have now gone.
The true dreams have been given space to breathe.
The joy that is buried under oppressive duty is flowing.
The smile is big – the dark cloud has gone.
Possibilities are no longer shrouded in anxiety and dread. They have become endless as she appreciates that the skillset she has can be applied to whatever she wants… on her own terms.
No longer is her own voice drowned out by the voices of others. She’s learned that listening to herself isn’t betrayal, it’s a daily practice that she’s committed to because she now knows that she’s worth it.
The voice that was whispering “I am destined for Greatness” is no longer lost in the demands of others. It’s no longer being quietened to maintain a status quo that was not in her favour, that she knew wasn’t working for her.
Her sense of self is no longer muted. Does she still have work to do? Yes. But her progress has been phenomenal, absolutely, and she’s set for the levels beyond.
She knew that she needed my help.
What she never knew was that she would discover the woman she is and wants to be rather than the woman she no longer was.
Her leadership has been elevated because she worked on herself, faced the woman in the mirror and gave her own voice space.
She’s had conversations she’d previously hold back on, and asking questions would have been left lingering in the back of her throat. She’s been advocating for herself and her outstanding work, and her excellence has become undeniable.
Whilst there is more work today, as we are all a work in progress, she has opened her wings and now has a bird’s eye view on her possibilities and tools to make them her reality.

She’s operating at an elevation that honours who she is today.
She’s soaring.
